Schecter Omen Extreme-6 Review – Great Value!

Schecter has started the business as a custom shop for guitars and replaced and produced parts for leader guitar brands like Gibson and Fender, however, after gaining great experience on the market they have started producing their own guitars, basses, and amplifiers, and they have never looked back.

In the past decade, their success was not surprising in guitar circles, and their guitars gave the metal genre the much-needed breath of fresh air. The Schecter Omen Extreme-6 is an excellent example of their quality but affordable guitars, it is packed with tons of features that modern guitarists want and they feature terrific designs, this is a perfect guitar to shred.

Since their beginnings as guitar makers, Schecter has stuck with simple body shapes and designs. The Schecter Omen Extreme-6 sports the super simple super strat shape that is a little more arched to blend in various features. This guitar uses mahogany as tonewood and is covered by the attractive maple top, this tonewood gives this guitar a very powerful sound and lengthy sustain that heavy rock and metal guitarist love.

The maple neck is pretty solid and has the shape to provide exemplary speed and accuracy, and are united with abalone. On top of the neck, you will spot the rosewood fretboard that is equipped with Pearloid Vector inlays. Overall, I can comfortably say that the Schecter Omen Extreme-6 looks extremely elegant and suitable for every band regardless of the genre, and in addition to that, it features excellent comfort thanks to its light-weight, balanced shape and playability, which is one of the most important features for me in a guitar.

The company has this guitar covered with a pair of Schecter Diamond Plus passive humbuckers, that look unremarkable at first, but just wait until you see of what they are capable of providing you. They are high-output alnico design and provide a wide array of tones and sounds, they cover everything that you may want from a sub-$500 guitar.

There are two volume knobs for each of the pickups, a master tone knob with the push-pull capability and a three-way pickup selector switch, all of the controls work pretty well and will provide great accuracy on the fly.

The Schecter Omen Extreme-6 features their excellent Tune-o-Matic tuning machines with a Floyd Rose bridge, these two elements give the Omen Extreme 6 an edge for those players that like to do some extreme bending and are a little abusive towards the strings.
The Schecter Omen Extreme-6 is a great guitar for those that require heavy distortion without ruining the sound, perfect for metal and hard rock bands.

I found that this guitar has plenty of versatility in it, and it could even sound pretty clean if you want it too. I played some raw blues on it Jack White style in White Stripes and it delivered amazingly.

The Schecter Omen Extreme-6 delivers despite being branded as a heavy metal guitar by most, it has plenty of playability and for the price the sustain is excellent.
